After two greatly appreciated events, in Bordeaux (2016) and Brussels (2017), the Digital Publishing Summit Europe (ex EPUB Summit) will be held in Berlin (a ‘B’ again) on the 16th and 17th of May, 2018.
The location will be the Spreespeicher building (Stralauer Allee 2, 10245 Berlin), a great venue with a terrace on the river.
The new name illustrates the extension of our focus from EPUB related to more generic digital publishing matters, and clearly positions the event as the European counterpart of the W3C Digital Publishing Summit in the US.
During this day and half, participants will exchange on technical and business innovations in the publishing industry, from the production of natively accessible ebooks to the spread of highly interoperable EPUB 3 reading applications on all platforms, with Readium LCP inside. Not only talks … expect lots of demos. W3C members will present the advances of their work on the future (Packaged) Web Publications and the challenges of digital archival; EDRLab members will present their current work on new forms of visual narratives (BD, Comics, Manga …).
Expect also insights on the German publishing industry, the wide digitization of the whole sector, the evolutions of the Tolino platform and the innovations in German startups.
With the Digital Publishing Summit Europe, EDRLab aims to strengthen a true spirit of cooperation between professionals and push to the massive adoption of open standards and software by the European publishing industry.
